My style of drawing is detailed and realistic, so I need good quality, clear photos to achieve the best possible portrait. The better the photo, the better the result.

I strive to capture unique character and energy in every portrait.  Where possible, I prefer to visit and take photographs myself, so I can make a connection and gain some understanding of the subject's personality and uniqueness.  Naturally, this is not always possible - in which case our discussions about your feelings on the characteristics and essence that you want me to capture are such an important part of the process.

If you live within 20 miles of the GU32 postcode, (Petersfield, Hampshire) this visit is free of charge.

 

You are welcome to keep a copy of all photos taken.

 

If am working from your photograph, a digital copy is preferable, but if for some reason you only have a hard copy picture, I may be able to use this as reference.

I may be able to work from poor quality photos if absolutely necessary, but the resulting portrait will not be as detailed/ accurate. 

Hints on taking your own reference photographs - 
Try to take your photos in natural light (a bright, but overcast day is perfect) and at eye level with the subject. Clear, sharp detail around the eyes and other facial features is essential to help me capture the unique character and personality.  

 

Please note, if you already have a professional photograph that you would like me to work from, I must have written permission from the Photographer before starting work.
